Later this month I will release my third shawl pattern on Ravelry - Pulsar, the second installment in the Astronomy collection. Sign up for my newsletter to be notified of the launch; all subscribers will get a code for 25% off the first week of the pattern release.
Pulsar is a two-color semi-circular shawl. The pulsating bands of garter stitch are inspired by the cosmic phenomenon of pulsar stars - rotating neutron stars that emit a pulsating beam of radiation. I love this Wikipedia diagram of the mechanics of a pulsar star. It makes my geeky self slightly giddy.
Here’s a sneak peek of the Pulsar shawl:
I love the yarn used for this pattern. The gritty black and white adorned with pops of red and golden speckles. The white skein is Downtown and the black is Uptown Graffiti, both are Swift Bliss Sock from one of my favorite dyers, Swift Yarns. I definitely recommend highly contrasting yarns for this pattern.
