The Americana Throw has thirteen stripes and a field of blue. Knit in garter stitch at a loose, extra squishy gauge, it is sized just right for a child to snuggle with or an adult to cover their lap or toss over chilled shoulders. To knit your own Americana Throw you will need a bit less than 400 yards of each color (red, white, and blue).
American Throw will make a great addition to your favorite summer getaway, whether it’s a beach house, lake house, cabin, or back porch. An simple garter-stitch knit it makes for a relaxing Spring or Summer project.
The sample shown was knit in Berroco Modern Cotton, a worsted weight yarn made of a 60% cotton / 40% rayon blend. It’s soft and able to be machine washed in cold water on the gentle cycle, making it an easy care fabric. (Personally, I hand wash all my knits even if the yarn label says they can go in the washer.) Modern Cotton is 209 yds/skein. I used two skeins of each color, with about 30yds of red and white left over, and closer to 40 yards of blue left over.
