Two years and counting

This past Sunday marked two years since the release of my first pattern, Jalapeno Hat, on Ravelry.

Since then I have release seven more patterns on Ravelry, the latest one being Afternoon Tea. I have seven more in various stages of production and a plan for others beyond that. I’m a long range planner and, well, I have a goal and a plan to get there. Kind of nerdy isn’t it?

As an art student one of the things our education focused on was discipline. I know that seems oddly counterintuitive, but it makes a lot of sense. If you purely have vision and no rigor nothing gets finished. So our teachers would challenge us to find ways to see our vision become reality. To take that spark of an idea and say to ourselves - well, how do it get there? How do I make this thing happen?

We also learned about self-editing. That concept that not every idea has to or should be made; to focus on the best ones. Our most precious resource is time, and it’s very limited.

So let’s make the most of the time we have and make something awesome; there’s no time for boring.

Cheers,

Spring
