Chilly nights, crisp mornings, and golden leaves all around means Fall is here in the Northeast US.
Early sunsets mean is it time to reach for a warm, snuggly hat. I’ve rounded up some of my hat patterns for a quick knitting list.
Afternoon Tea is a cabled hat knit in Aran weight yarn. The sample is knit up in Kokon Bleu Aran, a delicious yarn with excellent cable definition. It is also available in Kokon Bleu Pink, which benefits breast cancer research. I purchased mine at my LYS Forever Yarn.
My Sorbet Slouch pattern was just the second pattern I published. Knit up in DK weight yarn, it’s a slouchier fit hat featuring one large cable. The orange sample is knit up in Qing Fibre SuperSoft DK in Soft Grey. The blue sample is knit in Quince & Co. Phoebe. Unfortunately, it appears all the original celestial colorways are retired since Lion Brand bought Quince. That’s a bit disappointing as the original colors were fabulous. The sample was knit in Uranus. It looks Celestite is a close match. I don’t know if the fibre content and drape is the same, I haven’t purchased Phoebe since the acquisition.
If you’re looking for a hat that is full of texture but doesn’t require cables, then my Cross Rails hat is the perfect knit for you. Also knit up in DK it has a looser fit and is full of knit-purl textures. Sadly the yarn the sample was knit in, Primrose Yarn Co Marquess MCN DK, is discontinued. The current Primrose lineup doesn’t have a yarn with like characteristics available; as a substitute I would suggest Hedgehog Fibres Merino DK (Teacup is a good color replacement) or La Bien Aimee Merino DK.
Snag a pattern and a fabulous yarn and cast on as the nights get cooler. Drop a note and let me know what your finished hat looks like. You can comment here, catch up on Ravelry, or tag me on Instagram.
Happy knitting!
