A few thoughts on Fiberuary Challenge 2020

For the third year, I followed the Fiberuary Challenge on Instagram. I posted to more of the prompts this year than in prior years, but I’ll never post 100% of them, and that’s OK with me. It’s a fun little moment to think about your knitting and self from a slightly different perspective, and get to see how others interpret the same prompts! I also like that you can discover new people along the way; it really reinforces that idea of a global community.

I pulled together three of my favorite prompts here - Close up, Gratitude, and Hands. They each made me think of my family, in various ways.

Day 4: Close up

My Grandma knit this little Barbie sweater for me 35 years ago. She put as much love into making this sweater as she did sewing an Easter dress for me. It may be knit from a bit of dime-store acrylic, but it’s priceless.

Day 9: Gratitude

Every single day.

Day 15: Hands

These are our hands on our wedding. They have done and seen much in all the years we’ve been together. They have held our newborn daughter, made family dinners, celebrated holidays, and will have many more adventures and moments together. It is my favorite wedding photo.

Not surprisingly all my favorite prompts feature my family. You can see the rest my popping over to my Instagram feed - and check out #fiberuarychallenge to see what so many other knitters were sharing.

Happy knitting.
